‚ÄčThe Long Cross Pennies of Henry III

There were 6 Stephen 5g coins in the Brussels Hoard as studied by Churchill and Thomas. All six had the same reverse text : STE/PhE/NEO/S'ED - these correspond to Eaglen's #331, 332

Additional reverse readings from the coins shown on this webpage are:

STE/PhE/NEO/N'SE  - Eaglen 333

STE/PhE/NOH/SED  - Eaglen 335

STE/NEO/NSA/TED - Not recorded by Eaglen

Notes:  This reverse die not seen in the 5g coins of the Brussels Hoard, indeed the legend is quite different to the two BH recorded dies, or any of the coins recorded by Eaglen.  Images courtesy of Steve Elden. An interesting metal detecting find from Wymondham, Norfolk.
