Class 2a (Transitional)

Willem

Obv:hEHRICUS REX TERCI, Three pellets under crown.

Rev: WIL/LEM/OHE/AHT,  AH  ligated.

Coins of this class & moneyer in BH......... 0

Notes:   There were no 2a coins for Willem in the Brussels Hoard, but 7 of class 2b1 & 26 of 2b2.  The mint mark falls between 2a & 3a* - there are similar mint marks for Gilbert & Nicole so the dies were presumably cut at roughly the same time.  A transitional coin, and has a portrait that looks half way between 2a & 2b1. This coin can probably be classified as 2a rather than 2b1.   Image courtesy of DNW, Auctioned 18 Sep. 2013.
