Over 1400 coins, mainly English short cross, but also including 67 voided long cross pennies, were discovered in 1969 on the island of Naxos in the Aegean. The composition of the hoard is unusual with the latest coin being a voided long cross penny of class 5f, but the long cross pennies were vastly out-numbered by the short cross pennies which had gone out of circulation a decade earlier. It is believed that English short cross pennies remained available and in use in the area for many years after they were demonetized in England.  The flow of long cross pennies to the area appears to have been more restricted.  The voided long cross pennies recorded were 6 of class I, 11 of class II, 39 of class III and 11 of class V.  The 11 coins of class II comprised 8 from London, and one each from Exeter, Northampton and Norwich.

Norwich - Class 2

Henry III coins produced at Norwich included class 2 pennies, however none were documented in the Brussels Hoard. Class 2b coins from Norwich are exceptionally rare, however I have been able to find three examples to illustrate below.  One the property of an anonymous collector, and two examples from the FitzWilliam Museum.
